holding the joyful vision ☺️ | The Joyful Human Club 🌈

Hey, joyful humans!

Thank you so much for being here.

Friends, I made a little dream come to reality on Monday, and it was so cool.

It all started last summer when my friend took me to a yoga class on a buddy pass. I was reminded how much I enjoyed teaching, even though I stopped liking it after two years of teaching at a big box gym.

It was a full circle moment when that friend came to my first class on Monday.

My friends, dreams can feel fickle and challenging when convincing others to participate in them - but it's necessary. I remember when I had to pitch this big project in college. After my second round of pitching it to a group of instructors for approval, one of them finally said, "I don't quite get it yet, but I can sense its potential. If this project is approved, I'll be your advisor."

That project turned into an online course for kids, and I got straight A's.

The story's moral here is that when you're ready to share your dream, you only need one person to share the vision with you. Others will follow after, but if you can get that one person who can see it with you, that means everything.

Maybe that's a partner, a close friend, a business partner, or your mom or dad. Having that confidant beside you is essential, but please ensure they can continue sharing the vision with you and for you. Why? Because when your motivation and discipline about the project wane (which will happen), having that person in your corner to keep you accountable can be a make-or-break situation in making your dreams come true.

Share your hopes and dreams with those who can hold it with you. Tell them to keep you accountable. You don't necessarily have to speak it into existence with everyone from the get-go, but letting select people in and creating a support community starts with one. It will make all the difference in making every dream of yours come true.

Thanks for holding the vision with me, ladies (and to my friend who got passes who's coming next week!) ❤️

Book of the Week

Better Than The Movies - Lynn Painter

My friends, we're getting into the lovey-dovey spirit of Valentine's Day with this adorable rom-com! Admittedly, after reading Icebreaker two years ago, I immediately swore off any romance novel that was university-age or younger (IYKYK). Turns out, I just needed a better-written novel. It didn't really click for me in until after I started reading that it was about two high school kids BUT it's written in a way that feels mature and honest but you also relate to their high school emotions. For example, Liz's worrying and over explaining about her love life in high school is absolutely something I would have done when I was her age! (Don't lie to me! We all did that!) Plus, this one is themed with her obsession for classic rom-com movies so if you love romance and Bridget Jones' Diary, this one is for you. ❤️

Book Synopsis

Perpetual daydreamer Liz Buxbaum gave her heart to Michael a long time ago. But her cool, aloof forever crush never really saw her before he moved away. Now that he's back in town, Liz will do whatever it takes to get on his radar--and maybe snag him as a prom date--even befriend Wes Bennet.

The annoyingly attractive next-door neighbor might seem like a prime candidate for romantic comedy fantasies, but Wes has only been a pain in Liz's butt since they were kids. Pranks involving frogs and decapitated lawn gnomes do not a potential boyfriend make. Yet, somehow, Wes and Michael are hitting it off, which means Wes is Liz's in.

But as Liz and Wes scheme to get Liz noticed by Michael so she can have her magical prom moment, she's shocked to discover that she likes being around Wes. And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love--and rethink her own ideas of what Happily Ever After should look like.
